Mychele Barnett-Price earned her Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from LSU-S in 1996.  In 2001 she had the GREATEST opportunity to teach at Claiborne Magnet. In 2004 she earned her Master's Degree in supervision of education with gifted and talented certification from Centenary College. That is also the same year she began teaching Gateway. From 2008-2013 she had the great opportunity to serve as Instructional Specialist for the gifted office where she served as a liaison for our students at Claiborne. She returned to Claiborne as a Gateway teacher in 2013.

Mrs. Lawhon,

Discoveries

Mrs. Lawhon earned her BA in Education and her MA +30 in Education and History from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Centenary, and Louisiana Tech. She has been teaching since 1967 and has been at Claiborne since 2004. She currently teaches Discoveries to second through fifth graders. Her goal is to offer enrichment that reaches across the curriculum and goes above and beyond what is offered in the classroom.  Additionally, she is certified in Kindergarten Education, Supervision of Student Teachers, and is a Certified Academic  Language Therapist. She has chaired Hospitality, United Way, Project Learning Tree, Salvation Army Food Drive, and Telephone Book Recycling.  She has served on DIBELS, School Crisis Team, Entrance Testing, and School Improvement, and Social Studies Fair committees.  She has received the Red Apple Award, Teacher of the Year twice, Project Learning Tree State Teacher of the Year, four Alliance for Education Grants, Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation Grant, Best Buy Teach Grant, three Landmarks of American History Grants, Shreveport Regional Arts Council Grant, two Kids in Need Grants, the  AEP/SWEPCO Teacher Vision Grant, and a Louisiana History Grant.  She serves on the ICI committee and also sponsors the Yearbook. Currently, she serves as a fellow for the LAA+ Schools.

Mrs. Rodriguez,

Spanish

Mrs Rodriguez is native from Mexico. She speaks Spanish, and English is her second language. She earned her B.A. in ELT. She has a training in Educational Technology, a Masters Degree in Humanistic Psychopedagogy, these days is studying a PhD. in Adult Learning Education. She began teaching in 2002. She has been teaching since K to University, love her profession and her students; she is trying to give her best every day!

Kim Cantrell received her Bachelors Degree from LSUS and her Teacher

Certification from Louisiana Tech.   She has been teaching since 2010.    She is dual certified in Elementary Education Pre-K-3rd and Special Education M/M 1-5th.  She has served on the Hospitality Committee, PBIS Team, Art Break and Field Day Committees.

Mrs. Wolfe,

Art Director

Mrs. Wolfe earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from LSUS in Art Education in 1993. She began teaching in 1994 and has been at Claiborne Fundamental Magnet since 2001. She teaches Art to Kindergartners through fifth graders. Mrs. Wolfe has served as chairman of the United Way Committee, and as Hospitality Chair. She has received grants from Alliance for Education in 2003, National Endowment for the Arts-NEA for 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and Donors Choose 2010. Mrs. Wolfe received the LAEA La Elementary Art Teacher of the Year award in 2009. She has organized and run private art camps and currently is running an art camp every other Saturday.  She is also on the ICI committee.  Additionally, she plans, organizes, and leads the Art Retreats for Caddo Art teachers.

Mr. Tillman,

Physical Education

Mr. Kenyatta Tillman earned his BA from the University of Louisiana at Monroe May, 15, 1999, and earned a MA in Education Administration from the University of Phoenix in November, 2011. Mr. Tillman has been teaching since 1999. This is Mr. Tillman's second year at Claiborne. He currently teaches Physical Education to Kindergarten to Fifth grade. Mr. Tillman goal is to enrich each student with the knowledge needed to ensure they are successful. Additionally Mr. Tilman is dual certified, Special Education K-12th and Regular Education 1st-5th. Mr. Tillman has served on the Dibels, School Crisis team, PBIS team, Building committee, Leadership Team, and coached various sports.
